Grand Cru da Vinte Vinte receives gold at the academy of chocolate awards 2024

Like Vintage Ports, our Grand Cru is made with cocoa from a specific harvest, in this case 2019, and from a particular estate. We chose a plantation called Finca la Rioja in Soconusco, Mexico, which represents one of the rarest and most special varieties of cocoa. The ‘Porcelana Blanca Rioja’, a sub-variety of criollo cocoa, is widely recognised as one of the best cocoa varieties and famous for its colour and aromatic flavours,’ explains Pedro Araújo, master chocolatier and director of Vinte Vinte.

Each bar of this special chocolate costs €20.
Bronze medals were awarded to the Fusion range of bars, made from 58% cocoa with mint, and the Classic range, milk chocolate with 35% cocoa. There were also three more medals for Limited Edition chocolates: dark chocolate with 70% cocoa from Peru, dark chocolate with 75% from Peru and dark chocolate with 75% from Madagascar.

‘From Porto to the world, we are producing chocolate with soul, in other words, chocolate with cocoa of origin, with chocolate cocoa. Since our launch, we've won 35 awards. That this is recognized internationally makes us very happy,’ says Pedro Araújo.

Vinte Vinte Chocolate, a brand that has its factory in the WOW Chocolate Museum, was born in November 2020, when it presented four product ranges: Classic, Fusion, Cacau Intensity and Grand Cru, completing its offer with Boxes of Bonbons, Tins with Port Wine Truffles or Classic Truffles, as well as Cocoa nibs and powder. Since then it has launched other products, such as the chocolate and Port wine harmonisation box.

Vinte Vinte chocolates are on sale in Vinte Vinte's physical shops (at WOW and Rua das Flores), in the online shop and in most speciality shops. Limited Editions are only available in Vinte Vinte's physical shops.
