WOW, It's Christmas!

WOW's daily Christmas programme starts on 25th November

Gaia's cultural district once again recreates the magic of Christmas. It all starts with the lighting of the Christmas tree on 25th November at 6.30pm. In addition to the big tree and the carousel, WOW offers a daily programme that runs until 7th January.

Vila Nova de Gaia,31st October 2023 - WOW, Gaia's cultural district, is already decked out for the Christmas festivities, but the lights on the 13-metre Christmas tree will be switched on,on 25th November at 6.30pm, in an event that will also include a performance by a youth choir and the usual hot chocolate and mulled port wine.

While the tree and carousel in the Central Square promise to warm up the atmosphere even on the coldest days, Lemon Plaza is always a safe and comfortable space for those rainy days. In this indoor plaza, WOW has created the Enchanted Valley space, where fairies will help you create Secret Santa gifts and where Father Christmas has his own chair. There will also be a cinema corner, where seasonal films and popcorn guarantee perfect family Christmas evenings.

In Lodge 6 Comercial Archade, next to Pink Palace, a play area will be set up with trampolines, inflatables, face painting and many other games specially designed for the little ones. In the Sala Nasoni, within Lodge 6, the stage will be used for theatre sessions.

In the Street Market, the Christmas Market once again brings together dozens of national brands and local artisans so that, together with WOW's many shops, they provide the perfect place for Christmas shopping."We want to be a hassle-free, queue-free option. The WOW shops have an ideal offer with lots of original and creative suggestions, perfect for the whole family," says Marta Bravo, the Cultural Districts's Museums and Retail Director.

Until 16th December, the programme is concentrated on Fridays and weekends. From the 16th onwards, the programme runs daily and includes lots of travelling entertainment throughout the WOW spaces: from Santa's postmen, to giant gingerbread biscuits, jugglers and gnomes.
